Can you be bought?  Do you have a price?

From famous ball-player to famous evangelist, William Ashley "Billy" Sunday is still remembered today for his energetic preaching style and large, successful evangelistic campaigns across the United States. In his lifetime, Billy Sunday addressed over 100 million people without the aid of loud speakers, TV, or radio.

Sunday gained nationwide recognition for his prowess as a baseball player. He became the first player to run the bases in 14 seconds, and set records for stealing bases.

Shortly after being Saved through the outreach of the Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago, Sunday turned down a $400 per month baseball salary (at a time when the average worker made $480 per year) for a $84 per month ministry position. Ball teams later offered $500/month and even $2000/month, but Sunday remained committed to his ministry for God. Later in life he was offered $1,000,000 to be in the movies, but again declined in order to continue the evangelistic ministry God had called him to.

He passed away after a heart attack in 1935 at age 73. billysunday.org/

Antares is the 15th brightest star in the sky.

It is more than 1000 light years away.

When multiple Hollywood types were asked 'What is the purpose of life?" many gave the usual answers, "to do good," etc.
Garrison Keeler (Prairie Home companion) said the purpose of life is "to Glorify God."
So it is with this amazing comparison of bodies in the universe.

The universe is so vast it is not comprehensible by the human mind. It would be like an ant trying to understand the wonder of the internet. It can't be done. The universe humbles us as it should.

Dr. Jeff Fugate

From Balance in the Christian Life by Dr Jeff Fugate:

Do you spend your time on eternal things or on temporal things?  If you are not careful, you will get busy doing all the temporal things that have no lasting value.  You will get frustrated with yourself in your relationship with God because you are not doing the things that have eternal value, and that will affect you.

You see, God controls the inside.  Nebuchadnezzar could not sleep at night.  Do you know why?  God troubled him in his sleep.

You better think with me right now.  I like to be able to go to sleep at night.  If I have been faithful in my responsibilities to Christ, I can sleep a lot better.

Those who spend their lives trying to gain some other material thing, or another possession of life, often cannot sleep or enjoy life for fear that someone is going to get something of theirs.

Everything I have I want to share with people.  It's a wonderful life when you can encourage people to know the joy of serving the Lord Jesus.  There are too many Christians wasting their lives away playing games, wandering, changing from job to job to job, making decisions and saying, "This is it.  This is what I'm going to do the rest of my life," and 10 days later, they do the same thing all over again.

This does not mean that you will not change jobs during your life, but God's will does not change every 10 days!  When you find a job, there are going to be some things that you won't like, but you need to decide what the will of God is and just do the will of God.

Sometimes as a pastor it's just wonderful and everything is great.  Then there are some times it is not so great.  Sometimes there are unexpected and difficult things that arise; but, wait a minute!  God called me to preach.  God called me to pastor.
