What is your dream for your youth ministry?

That can be a tough question.  Some people dream of youth meetings stacked wall to wall with kids.  Others dream of mission trips to Chile.  Still others dream of a "perfect" youth group--the one with the future Christian celebrity, music star and author in it.

The problem with such dreams is they're generally unrealistic.  Most small churches can't afford mission trips to Chile.  and the notion of wall-to-wall kids may be completely unrealisic for the community.

What a small church youth ministry needs, then, is a realistic vision of the present and a planned vision for the future.  Youth Ministry In Small Churches Rick Chromey Page 34

Unbelief is Folly

"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God..." Psalms 14:1

An evolutionist has to believe a lot of unreasonable things. he has to believe in creation without a creator, intelligent design without a designer, energy without a source, and life without one to give life.  He has to believe that man has a innate desire to worship without a reason, and he cannot explain why faith in God changes people's lives and gives them peace and happiness.  Nor can he explain why faith in God causes people to spend their lives serving Him and working to help others.

Dr. B. R. Lakin used to tell of an infidel who asserted, "There is no God."  A small boy called to him, "The Bible says, The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God..., and you've done blabbed it with your big mouth."

Those who do not believe in God are practicing folly.  Faith in God changes lives, brings peace, and makes those who believe a blessing to others.  unbelief does none of these things.

JOB OR MINISTRY?

What is the difference?

*If you are doing it because nobody else will, it's a job.

If you are doing it to serve the Lord, it's a ministry.

*If your concern is success, it is a job.

If your concern is faithfulness, it's a ministry.

It is hard to be excited about a job.  It's almost impossible NOT to be excited about a ministry for our Lord.

People may say, "Well done" when you do your job.

The Lord will say, "Well done" when you complete your ministry.

An average church is filled with people doing jobs.

A great church is filled with people who are involved in a ministry.

If God calls you to work with young people, don't treat it like a job. If you have a job in the church, give it up and find a ministry.  God doesn't want us feeling stuck with a job, but excited and faithful to Him in the ministry.
