August-September Letter

August-September 2009

Dear Pastors and Christian Workers,

Praise the Lord for his great blessings over the past few weeks.  So much has happened I could never fit it all in this letter so I will try to visit the highlights.  First of all, I have a new website:  Sethbucknerfamily.org.  I will be updating this site almost daily so it will be a great way to keep up with the Buckner family.  I will be posting many helps to Christian workers and building a Christian bookstore.  If you have any material you would like for me to offer, I will be glad to help you market your materials very inexpensively.

As you know, we have been praying for a van.  God provided in amazing ways, and we now have a “new” van.  I heard about this van being available and stopped right then and prayed for it.  Immediately while I was still praying my phone rang.  It was someone who wanted to buy a gun that I had.  I had not even thought about selling it, but I realized the call was the Lord at work and sold the gun.  Within a week, the rest of the money came in.  I caught a flight to the Midwest and was able to pay cash for it!  What an answer to prayer!

The  May Bread of Life Camp meeting was a great success.  This is the annual meeting at Fellowship Baptist Church in Lebanon, Ohio.  The Lord really worked in the services, and the preaching was fantastic.  I hope that you will make plans to attend next year.    During this meeting ten million gospel tracts were shipped to India.  To God be the glory!

Recently I was in Memphis at the Fundamental Baptist World Wide Missions meeting.  As I drove through a rough part of town, my 1993 Grand Prix quit on me.  It was just another opportunity for God to do something great!  A Christian truck mechanic took two days of his own time, towed my car to his house, and eight hundred dollars in parts later had my car back as good as new!  My bill was $0.  Is that not exciting?!

I have been speaking on several occasions at Farren Road Baptist Church in Red Lick, TX.  This church is without a pastor at this time, so please pray for them.  I want to be a blessing to them and help them find God’s man for this ministry.  They have great facilities, and it is a wonderful opportunity for someone to serve in a small church.  The more I travel the more needs I find in our small churches.  Churches are closing across America at an alarming rate, and we need Christian young people to step in and fill the gaps in these ministries.

Please keep my left arm in your prayers.  For over a year now I have been struggling with some issues with it that are steadily growing worse.  Doctors can’t seem to figure out what is wrong.  I began with a doctor in Longview, and switched to a doctor in Marshall, who has now referred me to a doctor in Shreveport, LA.  None of these doctors have figured out what is wrong, and I am currently facing many thousands of dollars of tests to discover what is wrong.  I was working a part time job to help support us as we are starting out, but because I cannot lift weight anymore with my arm. We are now going full time at 38% of our needed support, so make that a matter of prayer on our behalf.  It is a joy to live by faith and just see what God is going to do next for our family.

As many of you know, I was going on a trip to Honduras in August.  Because of the recent political crisis and unrest, I have been praying whether or not to go.   I received a phone call from the airlines that our tickets were canceled, and we received credit to go sometime in the next year.  If you are considering supporting this trip, we can still use the help for the projects we wanted to accomplish while there.

Last but not least, I have had the privilege to see people saved in the recent meetings.  I have been blessed to lead a couple of young men to the Lord.  Best of all, one of them happened to be Joshua, my oldest son!

God Bless,

Bro. Seth, Elizabeth, Joshua, Jonathan, and Hannah Buckner

A special thank you to Victory Baptist Church, Longview TX &Pastor Bob Page for taking us on for monthly support.  Please pray for  this church and their building project—they need to replace the roof on their Sunday School building or they are going to lose the building.  The cost is $12,000.00
