Title: Lord, that I might receive my sight!
Subtitle: Things Christians need to see.
PROVERBS 29:18
Luke 18:35-43
Are you not tired of the ordinary? Are you not ready for God to show us something special?
Vision improvement is NOT a short term process. It takes a while… It depends on your condition but if you go into this with the expectation that this is going to be fast, then you've set yourself up for failure because you'll give up… Kathy Chan
Very unfortunately, people in general are starting to fix the effects of a problem after it arises. And they usually never fix the cause. Cureyoureyes.com
I. VISION OF HOLINESS
Definition: Sanctified, Sacred, Set Apart as different
1 THESSALONIANS 4
7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto HOLINESS.
HOLINESS IS NOT HOW YOU DRESS OR WHERE YOU GO.
Holiness is on the inside that affects the above.
1. We need to be holy in our dress
2. We need to be holy in our deeds
3. We need to be holy in our direction—where we go
A. Vision of God Luke 18:37 & 43
HEBREWS 12
10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his HOLINESS.
14 Follow peace with all men, and HOLINESS, without which no man shall see the Lord:
JOSHUA 24
19 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an HOLY GOD; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.
B. Vision of our Goodness without God!
Luke 18:35 Blind man sat by the way side begging
C. Vision of our Generations—where are we headed?
Luke 18:43 made a difference with those around him.
Goal for your friends and those around you… do you have it
PSALM 112
2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the GENERATION of the upright shall be blessed.
LUKE 1
50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from GENERATION to GENERATION.
HEBREWS 3
10 Wherefore I was grieved with that GENERATION, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
Things Gods People Need to See—vision of holiness.
II. VISION OF HEAVEN
A. The Windows of Heaven
MALACHI 3
10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of HEAVEN, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
B. The Whosoever of Heaven
MATTHEW 18
4 WHOSOEVER therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
JOHN 3
15 That WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
JOHN 12
46 I am come a light into the world, that WHOSOEVER believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
JOHN 4
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, WHOSOEVER drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But WHOSOEVER drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
JOHN 3
15 That WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
ROMANS 10
13 For WHOSOEVER shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
C. The Way of Heaven
TRUST IN GOD!
D. The Wealth of Heaven
Have you seen my new home? I have—I have got a vision of it.
E. The Worship of Heaven
REVELATION 22
8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to WORSHIP before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
We need to practice down here! Luke 18:43
Things Gods People Need to See—vision of holiness and vision of Heaven.
III. VISION OF HELL
REVELATION 20
15 And WHOSOEVER was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
In Mark 9:43-48 five times we read where Jesus said, "The fire is not quenched." Jesus said it, the holy Jesus, the tender Jesus, the Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of man. He said, "Where the fire is not quenched."
We need a vision of Hell. I think if you, Christian friend with loved ones who are lost, could see them dancing and burning in the fires of the infernal and eternal Hell, surely that would move your heart. Think of your neighbors, your lost family, lost without God and in Hell. Surely we need a vision of what it means for lost souls to go to Hell.
"Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. "-Proverbs 29:18.
Things Gods People Need to See—vision of holiness, vision of heaven and a vision of hell.
IV. VISION OF THE HOUR
What time is it! Not game time—go time
A. The Hour should change our Values
When your running late you do things different—you don’t stop for coffee.
Why is the last days church building coffee and donut shops, having social meetings, and singings, and rock concerts and little sermonettes that stroke peoples egos—its go time! Churches should not have time to be going to the movies, we should be moving forward!
B. The Hour should change our Voice
Voice for souls
Voice with tears
Voice with a passion for God
Luke 18:37-39
C. The Hour should change our Visions
Do you have a vision?
Things Gods People Need to See—vision of holiness, vision of heaven, vision of hell, and vision of the hour.
story of a man in the London subway. Hundreds of people were trying to get a ticket to the subway. One man said to the ticket agent, "Does all this bother you?"
He answered, "No, there is only one thing that concerns me."
The man asked, "What is that?"
The ticket agent pointed up and said, "To please that one up there."
The man who was asking looked up and there on the door of the ticket office was "Superintendent." He stood there and thought a moment of what the ticket agent had said about wanting to please the one up there.
That ought to be the testimony of every Christian. Does all this bother you? No! Only one thing concerns me-to please Him up there. Why? The judgment seat of Christ.
The Blind man cared nothing except that Jesus heard his need… do we want to be different?
"Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. "-Proverbs 29:18.
